Join Ireland’s Only Four Star Airline

We catch up with cabin crew member Suzanne Earley as she meets her colleagues to carry out their routine pre-flight briefing and prepare to fly to New York’s JFK airport. Suzanne joined Aer Lingus two years ago and hasn’t looked back since.

The 25-year-old from Malahide previously studied Journalism at Griffith College and worked in Public Relations but she always felt that something was missing from her career.

“When I saw Aer Lingus was looking for new cabin crew I jumped at the opportunity” said Suzanne. “I have always enjoyed working with people and the idea of travelling for work really excited me.”

Two years on, and today Suzanne travels all over Europe and North America. “I haven’t looked back,” says Suzanne.  “I love my role as Cabin Crew with Aer Lingus because of the interaction that I have with our guests each time I’m on board an Aer Lingus flight. Every day I see my fellow crew striving to provide the best possible service to those travelling with us and working to make their flight experience an enjoyable and memorable one.”

These high service standards on board our flights were instrumental in Aer Lingus securing a four star rating from Skytrax, the international air transport rating organisation,  making Aer Lingus Ireland’s only four-star airline.

Suzanne recognises the challenges that come with the role of cabin crew: “At times, the role can be quite physically demanding, and shift work does not suit everyone. Also, there can occasionally be unpredictable changes to your schedule due to delays or weather conditions.” However, Suzanne adds that, “If you’re flexible and, like me, have a passion for the job you’ll get on just fine.”

A big part of the role of cabin crew in Aer Lingus is to ensure the safety of our guests. “The training process is quite intense, both in theory and practice. This is to ensure that you are fully prepared for your role and any situation that may arise on a day-to-day basis. After six weeks at the Aer Lingus Training Academy where you receive training in areas such as first aid, CPR, emergency landing and firefighting drills, you will officially become a member of Aer Lingus cabin crew.” said Suzanne.

“As cabin crew, I’ve learned to keep a smiling face in all situations, I’ve developed my confidence, and come to really understand the importance of good customer service. I cannot recommend the role highly enough. My expectations were totally surpassed and I’ve never looked back.”
