Dublin is full of things to see and do. There is always something happening in the vibrant capital be it a festival, concert or other event. The city also acts as a gateway to the rest of Ireland with many day trips departing the city centre for destinations such as the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare and the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim.
Soaring some 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean, the Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's most impressive sights. The cliffs run for 14 kilometres along the Wild Atlantic Way and are a natural masterpiece. You can learn about their formation in the onsite visitor centre and the Burren National Park and Galway City are located nearby should you wish to extend your visit.
The Giants Causeway lies in Northern Ireland and according to Irish legend the 37,000 basalt rock columns were formed when Irish giant Fionn Mac Cumhaill walked to Staffa Island in Scotland where the same rocks can be found. Science says that the rocks were formed by an ancient volcanic eruption. Either way, a visit to the Giants Causeway is a must.
Just moments from Dublin you'll find the Wicklow Mountains complete with gorgeous scenery, secret lakes, beaches and the ancient monastery of Glendalough. Glendalough is the perfect location to walk, hike, bathe by the lake and learn about Ireland's Ancient East - its round tower dates back to 6th century!
If you'd rather stay local there are many wonderful tours to take within Dublin city.
See Dublin from a different angle onboard the Viking Splash Tour floating bus. Travelling on both land and water, you'll take a trip around the city centre learning about its Medieval past. Guests are provided with a Viking helmet and will learn to roar like a true Viking.
This is not your typical hop-on-hop-off tour. The Ghost Bus will bring you to points of interest that have a ghoulish, supernatural connection. Led by a professional actor guide, you will visit a medieval vault and spooky cemetery, learn about body snatching and relive some of Dublin's scariest secrets.
The Dublin Free Walking Tour is a tip-based service available in a range of languages. Experienced guides will take you to Dublin's best spots including Trinity College, Dublin Castle and, of course, Temple Bar.
