Ever since the 1950s and the ‘Cuban Revolution’, when many of Cuba’s countrymen and women fled to Miami in their thousands, Cuban culture has played a key role in Miami’s identity. As the Cuban diaspora grew over time it encouraged other Spanish speaking people from other countries to settle in Miami. Not surprisingly, Miami is now colloquially known as the ‘Capital of Latin America’.

Miami’s tropical climate lends itself to all year round outdoor activities whether it’s boating, kayaking or fishing. Its
coral reefs provide a great attraction and facility for scuba diving and snorkelling.
Paddle, kayak or surf on Hobie and Windsurfer Beaches. Take your family to the kid-friendly South Pointe Park Beach, with its wading pool and playground. If you’re looking for more excitement, head to Lummus Park Beach on Miami Beach.
Explore the Wynwood Arts District, which has more than 30 galleries and studio spaces along with the highly Instagrammable Wynwood Walls. Wander around Coral Gables and admire the Mediterranean Revival architecture, tour the famous Biltmore Hotel or frolic in the Venetian Pool, built in 1923.
Miami is a also a significant player in the fashion world and is home to some of the world’s top modelling agencies. The city hosts many fashion shows and events, including the annual Miami Fashion Week.

If you fancy a walk, then a stroll along Ocean Drive (now fully pedestrianised) would be a great option. Running the full length of South Beach, this 2km stretch is the place to see and be seen in Miami. Take your time, visit one of its many bars or restaurants or simply indulge in some ‘people watching’.
