Public transport in Milan

Public transport in Milan is relatively cheap, runs until late, and can be quite efficient. Milan has four subway lines called Metropolitana. The four lines are the Red Line, which is line one, the Green Line, which is line 2, the Yellow Line, which is line 3 and finally Line 5, the Purple Line. Getting from Milan Airport to the City Centre

Your flight to Milan has landed, now what? The best ways to get from Milan's airport to Central Milan:

  • Getting from Milan Linate Airport (LIN) to Milano Centrale: you can choose between two different types of transport: Taxi or Bus. The most convenient and fastest way to reach the city centre is by hiring a taxi at the Linate Airport. This costs approximately €40 and takes around 15 minutes. Bus tickets cost only €1.50 and takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Getting from Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Milano Centrale: Two train routes connect Terminal 1 to Milan's centre. The Malpensa Express and Trenitalia. The Malpensa Express takes 50 minutes and will take you to Milano Centrale. This trains runs every 15 minutes and costs approximately €13 one-way.

    There is a permanent bus service that connects the Central Station of Milan with Malpensa Airport's two terminals. Buses leaves every 20 minutes and take nearly an hour to get to the centre. The bus costs € 8 per journey or € 14 if you buy a return ticket. Children (aged between 3 and 11) pay € 5 per journey.

    For those looking for a more comfortable journey, a transfer service is available. You can book a private chauffeur for €90.
