One of the most unique and beautiful cities in the world, Venice is mostly famous for its canals - it’s built upon a lagoon, after all! - but it is so much more than that - it is truly a piece of living history, dating from the 4th Century AC.
Venice Marco Polo Airport is located on the mainland and is 5 miles/8 km from the city. You can reach the city centre by bus, taxi or ferry.
Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport at the exit of the terminal. A journey to the city centre of Venice can take up to 20 minutes and cost you around 40 Euro.
Bus: To reach Venice from the Venice Marco Polo airport, take bus route No. 5-AeroBus, a 20-minute ride to Piazzale Roma, one of the main tourist terminals in Venice. From there the ACTV public transport water buses leave for the historic centre of Venice. Route 5-AeroBus departs from the bus lane located just metres away from the airport's arrivals exit. It costs from 5 Euro and the journey can take 30 minutes .
Ferry: A water bus transport service is available from the airport docks, connecting to Venice and the main Venetian islands (Murano, Burano, Lido). At the Airport: follow the light blue wayfinding for "Water Transport" and reach the 1st floor of the Termina. Here you'll find the Moving Walkway, an elevated pedestrian path with moving carpets, that will lead you to the dock.
