Things to do and places to see in Barcelona

Barcelona is definitely one of the best tourist destinations in Europe. The city offers a great choice of unique architecture, modern design, easy access to beaches and fantastic Spanish cuisine. The weather is warm and sunny all year long, which brings even more great vibes to the city. Our top attractions are below:

  • Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló & Casa Milà: You will be amazed by the unique style of Antonio Gaudi. Barcelona offers a one of a kind selection of Gaudi's work. The biggest and most astonishing project is Sagrada Família. His basilica is a project of huge scale - it's still only around three quarters complete more than 140 years after Gaudí started it. Other Gaudi's creations like Casa Batlló & Casa Milà are definitely worth a look.
  • City Beaches: Barcelona has beautiful beaches accessible from town. It takes around an hour to walk to the beaches but for those who like to stroll in a sunny city, it is definitely time well spent.
  • Camp Nou: In the western Les Corts neighbourhood sits the 99,000-seater stadium which is the home of FC Barcelona. It's a MUST SEE for all football fans.
  • Montjuïc: The district has a number of museums, including the National Museum of Catalan Art, the Museum of Archaeology and the Ethnology Museum. In our opinion, best of all is the Magic Fountain. This set of modern fountains built on a hill provides a stunning spectacle after dark. The water and colours show is shown live every 30 minutes on weekends.

How to get from the Barcelona airport to the city centre?

Barcelona airport (BCN) is located around 12 km from the city centre. It makes the transfer quick and easy. You have a number of option to choose from:

Taxis: Taking a taxi to Barcelona from the airport is the simplest and fastest solution. You won't have any issues locating Taxis outside T1 & T2. For €20 you will be in Barcelona in less than 25 minutes.

Bus: Bus 46, which runs from the two terminals T1 and T2 will get you to Plaça Espanya in 30 minutes. Tickets are €4 and the service runs every 20 minutes.

Trains: Metro: T1 and T2 terminals are connected to the Barcelona metro network. It takes around 30 minutes and €4 to get to town.

Do I need a Visa to visit Barcelona?

Passports are always required except for citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, United Kingdom, or countries that are members of the European Economic Area. In these cases, citizens can travel with a valid identity card (except for minors, who must have a parental permit). Visas are generally required for all other tourists, except when an international agreement signed with Spain, or another country from the Schengen area indicates otherwise, or when the tourist holds a residence permit or a long-stay visa issued by another state in the Schengen area.
