Longing to visit to Lanzarote? Take a closer look at the places Vogue visited on her recent trip.

SLEEP:

HOTEL FARIONES

The fabulous Hotel Fariones in Puerto del Carmen is a quick 15-minute drive from Arrecife airport. The stunning ocean view greets you as you enter through the huge glass doors. Each luxurious bedroom has a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. There’s no better way to end your evening than sitting out and listening to the soft crash of the deep blue waves.

Don’t miss the private beach and elegant palm tree-lined infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy beautifully prepared fresh fish and tasty local wine in the in-house restaurant.

SETTLE INTO ISLAND LIFE

Known around the world as the ‘Island of Volcanoes’, Lanzarote’s unique landscape is dotted with hundreds of hills, all of which were once live volcanoes. The legendary local artist César Manrique has had a profound impact on the architecture on the island.

High-rise buildings are a no-go, every building must be painted white and when painting their doors and window frames, locals can choose between blue, brown and green to reflect the landscape.

This strict attention to detail makes Lanzarote a truly special place. No matter where you are on the island, you’ll enjoy unspoilt views of the hills and the sparkling ocean in ever direction.

VISIT A TRADITIONAL VILLAGE

Lanzarote is an island waiting to be explored. Spend a day or two winding down on the beach and then get out and see everything this spectacular place and to offer.

Teguise is a gorgeous little village in the heart of Lanzarote. It’s a must-see to get a true sense of the pace of life on the island. The traditional village is home to pretty palm tree-lined squares and beautiful white-washed buildings full of history.

Take a seat outside one of the welcoming cafes and watch the world go by with a café con leche.

TAPAS OFF THE BEATEN TRACK

LilyJack’s Restaurant and Hotel in Finca la Florida (a twenty-minute drive from Hotel Fariones) is well worth a visit for a spectacular lunch. The charming restaurant manager John gives a warm welcome. He explained to us that every morning local farmers arrive to the restaurant with boxes of fresh produce. John and his team create a new menu each day based on the deliveries.

Look forward mouthwatering watermelon, fresh figs and tomatoes, chorizo, prawns, delicious cheeses and more. Spend the afternoon exploring the hotel vineyard or sampling the local wine.

CATCH SOME WAVES

Surfer’s paradise San Bartolomé is perched on the southeastern corner of the island. The spectacular cliffs will take your breath away.

Park up on the sandy road and head for the beachfront. Grab a board and enjoy the waves or enjoy a leisurely stroll on the beautiful boardwalk and watch the local fisherman catch their dinner.

A DUNE BUGGY TOUR FOR THRILL SEEKERS

Fancy a walk on the wild side? Don’t miss Lanzarote Buggies. Heading off the beaten track on a buggy tour is an amazing way to see the island’s raw, otherworldly landscape up close. Peter and his team will care of you.

TAKE A DIP IN THE NATURAL POOLS

The water is always warm in Lanzarote. Swimmers should head to the north east of the island to Punta Mujeres for an amazing dip. The sleepy seaside village is home to two kilometres of enticing natural pools sheltered from the open seas. Colourful boats line the seafront and handy ladders make taking the plunge into the turquoise waters really easy.
