Things to do and places to see in Budapest

Hungary is located in central Europe. The official currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). You can buy around 336 Forints for 1 Euro. Budapest is the capital of Hungary and the largest city in Hungary in terms of population. The total population of Budapest is approximately 1.7 million. The city is fabulous and it has a lot to offer any curious tourist. Our top 3 picks are listed below:

  1. Gellért Baths: Budapest is built on thermal springs and it offers a selection of baths around the town. This means that thermal baths are very popular in Budapest - it’s a must to experience them. Gellért Baths are one of the most popular baths in Budapest. They are located at the rear of the Gellert hotel, which is a magnificent building. Inside there are a few indoor and outdoor pools to swim and splash around. Don’t forget to bring flip flops, a bathing suit and a swimming hat.
  2. Faust Wine Cellars: Faust Wine Cellar is located in a historical underground wine cellar in the Buda Castle District. You will learn about local wines and get a chance to taste these delicious beverages. Individual and groups are welcome. A reservation is highly recommended as the cellar is rather small and has only a few tables.
  3. Buda Castle Hill Funicular: It’s a spectacular incline railway built in 1870 at the bridge that connected Buda and Pest. It links Adam Clark Square the Szechenyi Chain Bridge at river level to Buda Castel at the top. The total length of the rail is almost 100m and height at 51 meters. The hill gradient reads 31.75 degrees, which makes it pretty steep. There are two cars in operation, each one can take up to 24 passengers. The rail provides a nice view of the city and an easy way to get to the castle at the top. Is definitely worth taking a ride to admire the view of the city.
